Joint Venture

A joint venture can be a very risk-free and very profitable way to launch and promote a business.

The premise of a joint venture is that you work together with another person or company and pool resources to do a promotion of some product or service.

This can be extremely beneficial and win-win for both parties involved.

Say company A has a long history and many customers in their customer database.

However, they are not making total use of their customers and could make more profits.

Company B comes along and says "Hey, I am familiar with the products that your company sells. I think your customers would like this product of mine. If we can we work together and do a mailing to your customer list, I will give you half of the profits."

This way, company B does not have to risk an advertising budget, or track down a market of buyers.

Company A has already done this work, so the whole process is easier.

Also, company A benefits from the simplicity of the deal.

In return for promoting to the list, they get 1/2 the profits, and company B does all of the work in fulfilling the orders and customer service.

Of course, 50% is not a benchmark, and terms can be either much lower or much higher depending on the product, market, and medium.

The internet provides fertile grounds for joint ventures.

If you want to sell widgets, and have great widgets to sell, you simply might type 'widgets' into some of the top search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Then you might contact the site owners by email or phone about a potential joint venture to sell your widgets.

If you can't find good contact information on their site, you can usually find a contact phone number in the domain name registry.

Simply go to a site like http://www.godaddy.com and type in their domain name. It will say the domain is registered and ask if you want to see the registrant information. You can then type in an access code or turning key code to see the phone number of the domain name owner.

This can quickly get you to the person who can make a decision about a joint venture.

There are thousands of potential websites you can joint venture with, and most people operating a website are in it to make some money, so give it a whirl! You may be suprised!

You may also make contacts with people who share similar passions and can give you leads on how to best market your product.

Joint ventures are a great way to start a business and bring it from zero to revenues without much risk.
